Skypoint Medical’s Acne Treatment Roselle, IL information:
Acne occurs when the pores become plugged. Blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and deeper lumps (cysts or nodules), occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and even the upper arms. Acne is experienced by both teenagers and adults. Although acne can be upsetting and disfiguring, break outs can also lead to serious and lifelong scarring. Untreated acne can leave scars which can be somewhat difficult to treat.
Hormones found in both males and females rise during adolescence (puberty) and stimulate and enlarge the oil (sebaceous) glands of the skin. These glands are found in the face, upper back, and chest. Acne can be due to a hormonal imbalance and may require work up by one of our providers.

The oil glands are connected to a hair-containing canal called a follicle. The sebaceous glands make an oily substance called sebum, which reaches the skin surface by emptying through the skin surface opening of the follicle. The hair follicle opening is sometimes called the pore. The oil (sebum) causes the cells from the follicular lining to shed more rapidly and stick together, forming a plug at the hair follicle opening. Bacteria grow and stimulate inflammation, which causes the wall of the follicle to break. The bacteria spill into the skin causing redness, swelling, and pus.
What we do
Our acne specialists will work with you and perform a complete analysis of all factors affecting your skin (these include but are not limited to genetics, products, diet, and lifestyle) and we will customize the most effective regimen for your skin type with a comprehensive history and physical examination. Since no two patients are the same, our patients will receive individualized attention for our providers and medical aestheticians. We will put together a regimen that best suits your skin care needs and lifestyle. From Skin brightening to Acne Therapy, results can be seen in as little as six to eight weeks without harsh medications or antibiotics, although in some scenarios antibiotics are necessary for a short period of time. Committing to a care plan is a key part of success, so we will work with our patients to help them make the necessary changes for clean and clearer skin.
Chemical peels involve the application of alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol to the skin. The acid application exfoliates dead skin layers to improve texture and tone.
